Pedestrian Hospitalized Following Bakersfield Accident on South Union Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 15, 2019) – A woman suffered major injuries in Saturday’s pedestrian accident on South Union Avenue near Adams Street.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 9:05 p.m. Officers arrived and found a woman lying on the street near a vehicle.
CHP officers believe the driver struck the woman outside of a marked crosswalk. However, the events leading up are unclear. Arriving paramedics immediately shuttled her to Kern Medical for further treatment of major injuries.
Judging from investigations, officials currently believe neither drugs nor alcohol played a role. However, they still plan to investigate this crash further to uncover the cause.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
