1 Hospitalized after Suspected DUI Driver Crashes into Two Vehicles near Beach Boulevard
BUENA PARK, CA (January 9, 2019) – A driver was hospitalized early Wednesday morning following a fiery crash on 5 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly after midnight. Due to unknown circumstances, a Crown Victoria crashed into two vehicles near Beach Boulevard. The Crown Victoria burst into flames as a result of the collision.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly in the freeway lane, where the vehicle came to rest after the crash. Witnesses reported that the woman was helped out of the burning car by Good Samaritans.
One of the drivers was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Further details on the victim’s current medical condition were not immediately provided.
The woman driving the Crown Victoria was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol. Officers believe that the woman was driving under the influence at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation. Additional details will be released once it becomes available.
