Blewett Pass, WA (January 10, 2023) – On Monday afternoon, 31-year-old Willow Howard of White Swan and 4 other people suffered injuries in a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 97.

The CHP said that the rear-end collision happened at about 2:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of US Highway 97.

Reports say that Howard lost control of a 2012 Hyundai Veracruz SUV and crossed the center line. Afterward, a northbound 2008 GMC Sierra Pickup struck the back of the SUV.

The collision caused injuries to all 4 occupants of the SUV, including an 8-year-old boy from Auburn. Paramedics airlifted the boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Furthermore, rescuers took Howard, and her other passengers, 32-year-old Kara Plensky of Renton, and a 13-year-old girl from Auburn to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.

Meanwhile, one of the 3 occupants of the pickup suffered injuries. Medics transported the 7-year-old Orondo child to Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth.

Officials say that the other occupants of the pickup, 26-year-old Juan Farias and 22-year-old Linda Vargas both of Orondo did not suffer injuries.

Authorities say that Willow Howard will be cited for speeding too fast for the conditions.
