William Pacatte Dies in Two-Vehicle Wreck on Occidental Road Near Piezzi Road
SANTA ROSA, CA (December 13, 2018) – A 34-year-old Monte Rio man lost his life Wednesday morning following a head-on collision along Occidental Road near Piezzi Road.
The incident happened around 5:32 a.m. during heavy morning fog. California Highway Patrol Officer David deRutte said William Pacatte was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado truck eastbound on Occidental Road and had passed a garbage truck in front of him before his vehicle collided with a westbound white Chevrolet Suburban, driven by a woman.
Reports confirmed that the attempt happened over broken yellow lines but had occurred in an unsafe area. The left side of the garbage truck collided with the rear of the Silverado; however, the garbage truck driver escaped the crash with no injuries.
Pacatte and the female driver were brought to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where Pacatte, 34, died.
A follow-up investigation of this crash is underway, and authorities are asking the public to call CHP’s Santa Rosa area office at 707-588-1400 if they have any information.
