Lauren Cathcart Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash in Waterford
WATERFORD, CA (May 4, 2019) – A man was killed following a DUI two-vehicle crash Saturday evening in Waterford, CHP officials said.
The crash occurred about 9:50 p.m. on the Oakdale-Waterford Highway, just North of Ellenwood Road.
According to reports, a 23-year-old Lauren Cathcart of Waterford was traveling northbound in a 2004 Ford Explorer when she veered into the southbound lane. She drove into the path of a 2015 Nissan Versa, striking it head-on.
Paramedics pronounced the Nissan’s driver dead at the scene. The victim was only identified as a 20-year-old man of Waterford.
His passenger, 20-year-old Maritza Nuno of Waterford, suffered major injuries and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Cathcart also suffered major injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Authorities believe that drugs and/or alcohol have played a role in the crash, and Cathcart was placed under arrest.
The incident is still under investigation.
