VISTA, CA – 2 Dead, 1 Injured in 4-Car Crash on Highway 76 Near East Vista Way

Fatal Multi-Car Wreck in Vista

 
VISTA, CA (January 22, 2019) – Two women were killed, and a man suffered serious injuries following a four-car pileup on Highway 76 near East Vista Way Monday.
 
Around 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the scene on eastbound Highway 76. Authorities arrived and determined that a 40-year-old man driving a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado in the left lane swerved in an attempt to avoid striking a 2018 Hyundai Sonata, which was stopped at the traffic light intersection.
 
The driver of the pickup rear-ended the Hyundai, sending it into the back of a 2016 Mazda SUV, which pushed that car into the back of a 2016 Ford Fusion. Two women inside the Hyundai were killed and a man in the same vehicle was shuttled to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries.
 
No one inside the Mazda and Ford was harmed in the wreck and drugs and alcohol were not believed to be contributing source to the crash.
 
Investigators are seeking to determine the ultimate cause.
