Vincent Calvo Detained Following Fatal DUI Santa Ana Accident
SANTA ANA, CA (February 18, 2019) – At least four people were killed early Sunday when their vehicle was struck by an alleged impaired driver at East 4th Street and North Tustin Avenue.
The crash involved a black Jeep SUV traveling westbound on 4th Street at 2:30 a.m. At the same time, a white Chevrolet pickup truck was heading southbound on Tustin Avenue.
The driver in the Jeep, identified as 28-year-old Vincent Michael Calvo of Buena Park, ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into the Chevy truck. After the impact, both vehicles rolled multiple times.
One of the vehicles burst into flames, drawing nearby help from an off-duty firefighter and nurse. The nurse was able to provide aid to Calvo, who appeared to be extremely intoxicated at the scene.
He was brought to a nearby hospital and then arrested by police on suspicion of DUI. He is being held on a $4 million bail.
Four people inside the Chevy truck were killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity and residences of the four fatal victims were not immediately available. Authorities are working to determine the ultimate liability of the trash.
