Victor Torres Killed in Brentwood Multi-Vehicle Accident
BRENTWOOD, CA (August 27, 2019) – Authorities have identified Victor Torres as the driver who died after a crash on Sunday, August 25.
Around 8:50 a.m., CHP officers rushed to a collision involving three vehicles on Balfour Road near American Avenue.
70-year-old Victor Torres, drove a Nissan Altima eastbound on Balfour. He then tried to pass a Mini Cooper by crossing double solid yellow lines into the oncoming traffic. While trying to overtake the Mini Cooper, Torres collided head-on into a westbound white Toyota minivan.
Torres died on scene as a result of the impact. Paramedics also later transported the driver of the minivan to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Mini Cooper, whose vehicle was clipped by the Nissan remained uninjured.
Officials closed Balfour on Sunday morning after the incident. The roadway reopened around 1:30 p.m.
Authorities are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
