Fatality Reported in Collision south of State Route 33
Merced County, CA (November 28, 2024) – Victor Hernandez-Gonzalez, 40, of Santa Nella, was fatally injured following a pedestrian accident on Interstate 5 late Wednesday afternoon.
The authorities responded before 5 p.m. to the traffic accident south of State Route 33.
CHP said Hernandez-Gonzalez was walking east within the southbound lanes of the highway when he was hit by a 2014 Audi driven by a 24-year-old Norwalk man.
Investigators determined the driver swerved in an attempt to avoid the pedestrian but still struck him with the front of the vehicle.
This fatal crash is under further investigation.
