Vicente Lopez Dies in Bicycle Crash on South Alameda Street Near Firestone Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 29, 2019) – A bicyclist died Friday when a pickup driver struck him on South Alameda Street near Firestone Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was identified as Vicente Lopez of Lynwood.
It appears the bicycle crash occurred just before 10:10 p.m. Witnesses informed CHP that the bicyclist rode in an easterly direction, leaving the 7-Eleven parking lot at the intersection’s corner. As he crossed directly into the path of a southbound 2017 Ram 2500 pickup truck, the driver struck him.
Paramedics arrived soon after and transported him to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood. However, in spite of life-saving efforts, medical administrators pronounced Lopez dead at 11:38 p.m.
The 65-year-old RAM driver from Los Angeles escaped injury and arrest. Yet investigators are still determining the circumstances and events that led to the collision.
