Stockton Man Dies in Early Morning Crash on 580 Freeway at Dutton Avenue
SAN LEANDRO, CA (August 6, 2019) – A man killed after crashing his minivan into tree early Tuesday morning in San Leandro.
The fatal crash happened around 12:20 a.m. on 580 Freeway at the Dutton Avenue off-ramp. First responders arrived to the area shortly after.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a brown minivan was heading eastbound on the freeway when it struck a tree at the Dutton Avenue exit.
The minivan driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was later pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by the coroner’s office Wednesday as Vantrelle Rutherford, 24, of Stockton.
