58-Year-Old Valerie Martinez Dies in Huntwood Avenue Crash
Hayward, CA (February 18, 2021) – On Saturday, 58-year-old Valerie Martinez, of Fremont, died in a tragic hit-and-run crash on Huntwood Avenue.
At around 8 p.m., officers received a report about a woman walking between two lanes near Zephyr Avenue.
Moments later, a light-colored 2005 Ford Explorer SUV struck the woman before driving off.
Unfortunately, authorities pronounced Martinez dead at the scene.
Apparently, after striking Martinez, the Ford fled toward Whipple Road and left a front license plate holder, as well as grille debris. Authorities said the vehicle will have front-end damage and possible windshield damage.
