Fatal UTV Accident Kills Driver in Valley Center Off-Road Accident
VALLEY CENTER, CA (June 17, 2019) – A San Diego man died in a fatal UTV accident on Circle R Drive near the 15 Freeway Friday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the UTV flipped around 8:20 p.m. on a private dirt path on Circle R Drive.
A passenger on a 2010 Polaris UTV survived the fatal accident, which took place less than two miles from the 15 Freeway.
According to investigators, the San Diego male driver and his passenger ascended an incline. After that, for unexplained reasons, their UTV traveled off the path and struck a tree. Subsequently, the driver began to reverse up yet lost control and overturned.
Tragically, the 37-year-old driver died after being ejected during the accident. As for the 38-year-old male passenger from Murrieta, he escaped the crash with no injuries.
It’s unclear at this point whether intoxication played a role; however, an investigation concerning the cause is underway.
