Uriel Lopez Dead in Crash With Big Rig at Avenue 376 and Road 44
KINGSBURG, CA (March 4, 2019) – A 19-year-old man lost his life Friday night following a crash with a big rig on Avenue 376 at Road 44.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Flynn, the deadly accident unfolded at the intersection around 6:40 p.m.
Uriel Sanchez Lopez blew through a stop sign as he drove his Kia Soul eastbound on Avenue 376, where a southbound big rig struck the Kia. The impact of both vehicles caused the semi-truck to hit a northbound vehicle traveling on Road 44; however, authorities reported no injuries from the third driver.
As a result of the crash, a female passenger of the Kia suffered pain to her back, prompting paramedics to bring her to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia. Unfortunately, Lopez, 19, died at the scene.
News reports failed to indicate whether the driver of the semi-truck suffered any injuries.
At this time, authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the factors in the collision.
