Ubaldo Munoz Arrested After Fleeing Deadly Pedestrian Collision on Capitol Expressway Near Silver Creek Road
SAN JOSE, CA (November 27, 2018) – A pedestrian was killed Saturday night after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on Capitol Expressway near Silver Creek Road.
Around 9:42 p.m., a pedestrian, believed to either be a man or a woman per conflicting reports, was crossing Capitol Expressway outside of a marked crosswalk when he or she was hit by a 2018 Ford truck heading eastbound.
According to police, the 39-year-old driver attempted to flee but was stopped by witnesses. The unnamed victim was pronounced dead at the scene and will soon be identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office once the next of kin has been notified.
Ubaldo Montaras Munoz, of San Jose, was subsequently arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
