2 Dead in Head-On Accident in Madera
MADERA, CA (April 15, 2019) – Two people were killed following a head-on crash on Avenue 12 near Road 34 1/2 Saturday.
According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Lincoln McKenna, the crash unfolded around 4:25 p.m.
The sole occupant of an eastbound Audi sedan on Avenue 12 veered over the center line for unknown reasons. There, the Audi crashed into a westbound Toyota 4Runner SUV.
Per McKenna, both vehicles had been traveling at speeds of 55 – 60 mph.
Yet as a result of the accident, the Audi driver died, as well as a juvenile in the Toyota.
Five people occupied the Toyota, including three juveniles. The driver and one minor were airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. Meanwhile, medics transported the remaining two to a nearby hospital.
It is unclear whether impairment played a role, but a follow-up investigation is underway.
