Two Killed, Three Hospitalized in Multi-Vehicle Crash on State Route 79

 
Temecula, CA (December 4, 2020) – On Thursday, two died and three were hospitalized in a tragic multi-vehicle crash on State Route 79.
 
The fatal crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m. north of Dugan Drive, south of Vail Lake.
 
A 62-year-old Anza man on a 2002 Honda Pilot was traveling south on the highway when he drifted into the right shoulder and crashed with a rock embankment.
 
The Honda rolled over into northbound traffic.
 
Then, it crashed into a 2013 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 62-year-old Aguanga man.
 
Just minutes later, a 55-year-old Aguanga man driving northbound in a 2017 Nissan Frontier pickup truck crashed into the wreckage.
 
A 56-year-old Anza man who was a passenger in the Honda and the Jeep driver both died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the rescuers took the Honda driver to Wildomar’s Inland Valley Medical Center with major injuries.
 
Also, responders rushed the Nissan driver and his passenger to Temecula Valley Hospital with moderate injuries.
 
Furthermore, authorities closed both sides of the highway while the wreckage was cleared and an investigation was conducted.
