Man and Woman Dead in Morning Head-On Crash on Highway 223
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 27, 2019) – Two people were killed following a head-on crash Tuesday morning on Highway 223.
The crash happened around 5:26 a.m. on Bear Mountain Boulevard at South Edison Road west of Cuda Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling eastbound when a Toyota Corolla traveling in the opposite direction veered into the eastbound lane. The two vehicles collided head-on.
As a result, the man driving the Corolla died at the scene along with a female passenger inside the PT Cruiser.
Three other people inside the PT Cruiser were airlifted to a hospital with major injuries.
It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
