Compton Man Fatally Struck by Two Hit-and-Run Drivers at Cedar and Marygold Avenues
BLOOMINGTON, CA (December 21, 2018) – A man was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash Friday night in Bloomington, authorities said.
The fatal incident happened around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Cedar Avenue and Marygold Avenue.
According to reports, the man was walking along northbound Cedar Avenue, just North of Grove Place when a northbound Toyota Tundra struck him.
The driver of the Toyota pickup truck fled the scene on foot and abandoned the vehicle on Magnolia Street, just North of Marygold Avenue. Following the initial collision, the driver of a four-door sedan also struck the man’s body and took off.
The victim was badly injured and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. He was later identified as a 25-year-old Troy Fredrick Varnado of Compton.
The Toyota pickup truck was found abandoned on Magnolia Avenue, and the drivers of the truck and the second car are still outstanding.
Further investigation of this incident is underway.
