Tricia Garduno Struck and Killed, Magne Svarthumle Arrested in Squamish Hit-and-Run Crash
Squamish, WA (November 21, 2020) – On November 10, 43-year-old Tricia Garduno died in Squamish hit-and-run crash involving the 75-year-old Magne Svarthumle.
Svarhumle said he didn’t have his glasses on while driving his late 90’s maroon Mazda pick-up truck. As a result, he accidentally struck and killed Garduno.
Few hours after the incident, authorities found the vehicle, but not Svarhumle.
Investigators coordinated with Svarhumle’s friend who stated that Svarhumle said he struck a pole.
Then, on November 13, Svarthumle turned himself into the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office in Port Orchard. That is after Kitsap County Superior Court placed a $100,000 warrant for his arrest.
KCSO said they are grateful for the community’s help in solving this case. Also, they said that the investigation about the incident continues even Svarhumle is already in their custody.
“Even though the suspect is in custody, KCSO traffic deputies will continue with the investigation. We at KCSO are grateful for the relationship with our community that provided tips that led to a quick resolution of locating the involved vehicle and identifying a suspect in connection with the tragic fatality hit-n-run collision Tuesday in Suquamish,” reads the KCSO Facebook post.
Meanwhile, please call KCSO traffic deputies Dave Green or Steve Martin at 360-337-4634 or 9-1-1 if you have details about the incident.
With heavy hearts, we at Sweet Lawyers send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Tricia Garduno.

“Insurance companies will try to save money, even if it means not fully compensating a family for the wrongful death of a loved one. When a family retains an attorney immediately, it gives them time to grieve and heal, while their attorney works to build a strong case and hold the negligent party accountable,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
