Man Killed in Road-rage Crash on Highway 99 in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA (October 20, 2023) – Thursday night, one man died in a crash on Highway 99.

CHP responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian around 8:02 p.m. and an investigation began.

CHP said a 47-year-old Sacramento male was seen by a witness driving a Dodge Ram Pickup truck and weaving in several lanes on Business 80 from Arden Way to the E Street exit.

According to the witness, the man driving the Dodge sideswiped a medium to large-sized tow truck transporting a car hauler.

The force of the incident was so minimal that the tow truck driver may not have noticed. Both vehicles continued south on Highway 99.

Then the Dodge driver came to a complete stop in front of the tow truck just north of 12th Avenue and got out of his vehicle.

Moreover, the Dodge driver confronted the other driver via his window. The tow truck driver accelerated rapidly to go around the Dodge and ran over the Dodge driver in the process.

According to the CHP, the witness stopped to assist the man who had been run over. The victim was awake and conscious at the scene of the incident but died during surgery at a nearby hospital.

The identity of the Dodge driver has not yet been released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
