According to the Elk Grove Police Department, the fatal incident happened near Whitelock Parkway.

Reports say that the 55-year-old man died after a vehicle struck him while he walked in a northbound lane of West Stockton Boulevard near Whitelock Parkway.

The driver, who initially left the scene, was followed by a witness and later returned about 30 minutes later.

Authorities say that the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Officials pronounced the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Sacramento County Coroner’s office will release his identity once it becomes available.
