WILLIAMS, AZ (January 9, 2024) – On Sunday, a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 at Milepost 157 killed two people.

The incident happened on Interstate 40 at Milepost 157 near Williams.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a BMW SUV rear-ended a tractor-trailer that slowed down for traffic. Then, a semi-truck rear-ended the BMW, pushing it under the tractor-trailer. Also, authorities said that the crash involved approximately 40-50 vehicles.

Moreover, officers confirmed that two occupants of the BMW died in the incident.

Furthermore, authorities withheld the identities of the deceased, pending notification to the next of kin.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
