2 People Dead in Bakersfield Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 15 near Old River Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 7, 2024) – On Saturday, a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Old River Road killed two people.

The incident happened on southbound Interstate 15, near Old River Road.

According to CHP Buttonwillow PIO Manny Garcia, the incident involved a total of 35 vehicles, including 18 big rigs.

Moreover, officers confirmed that 2 people died in the incident. Also, officers said that 9 people sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, the crash closed SB Interstate 5 between Millux Road and Old River Road.

Meanwhile, authorities believe that the foggy weather played a major role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
