HOUSTON, TX (August 10, 2023) – Wednesday, a high-speed chase ended in a tragic auto accident on Beltway 8 and Bellaire Boulevard.

The incident began at around 12:00 a.m. when the Houston police received a call about a suspected drunken man in his 30s driving in the 10600 block of Westheimer Road.

Then, the officers located the vehicle six minutes later on Beltway 8 near Briar Forest Drive.

The authorities attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the vehicle continued escaping and the chase began.

Then, the driver made a U-turn near Little York Road, driving south on Beltway 8.

Moreover, the Department of Public Safety helicopter helped in the pursuit and officers pulled back.

However, the driver then took the exit off Beltway 8 to Bellaire Boulevard. Eventually, the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over several times.

The impact ejected the passenger from the car and was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, responders took the driver to a local hospital, and is expected to survive. Officers confirmed that the driver could face a felony murder charge.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
