Deadly Traffic Crash on Wible Road Claims Bicyclist’s Life [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (April 27, 2024) On Friday evening, a bicyclist lost their life after a traffic crash on Wible Road.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD), the tragic auto-pedestrian crash happened at about 6:58 p.m. on Wible Road at Planz Road.

Reports say that the fatal crash involved a semi-trailer and a bicyclist. First responders found the pedestrian was fatally struck by the big rig.

Officials say that the big rig was northbound on Wible Road when it hit the westbound bicyclist. Police say that the semi-trailer driver fled the scene initially, but later returned when a witness advised him of the accident.

Authorities closed the intersection for multiple hours. BPD is investigating the fatal crash.
