Fatality in Centralia 3-Vehicle Crash
Centralia, WA (January 26, 2024) – An elderly woman driving a Toyota was killed in a vehicle collision on Harrison Avenue Wednesday morning.
The authorities responded at about 9:30 a.m. to a three-car collision near Russell Road.
Investigators said a 38-year-old Centralia man driving a northbound Honda Civic was speeding when he tried to pass a big rig in a no-passing zone by drifting into oncoming traffic.
As a result, the vehicle collided head-on with a black Toyota truck in the southbound lane which was then rear-ended by a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
The elderly woman who was driving the Toyota was seriously injured and was transported to a Centralia hospital. She was then airlifted to a Tacoma hospital where she succumbed to injuries.
Investigators later found out that the Honda was stolen out of Chehalis.
The paramedics rushed the driver of the stolen Honda to the hospital for a cut on his head. He will booked into the Lewis County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide once released from the hospital.
