22-Year-Old Tow Truck Driver Dies in Delano Crash on Highway 99, Grant August Miller Arrested
Delano, CA (October 16, 2020) – On Thursday, a 22-year-old tow truck driver from Tulare died, while police arrested the Grant August Miller for the DUI collision on Highway 99.
The fatal accident transpired before 10 p.m. south of Wollomes Avenue in the northbound lanes of Highway 99.
Apparently, the victim was helping a stranded motorist when another vehicle crashed into his tow truck.
Moreover, the tow truck driver was standing beside his vehicle when a red Mazda SUV veered from the slow lane and collided into his truck.
The authorities pronounced him dead at the scene of the Highway 99 crash. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will identify him later.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver sustained minor injuries. Police arrested 48-year-old Grant August Miller for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Police booked the suspect into the Kern County Jail for Felony DUI and felony vehicular manslaughter.
Furthermore, CHP said there is no evidence that any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Police closed several lanes for several hours but have since reopened.
