Tim Page, Passenger Harmed After Person Throws Tripod Onto 5 Freeway Near Front Street
SACRAMENTO, CA (May 21, 2019) – A passenger suffered injuries Thursday when a man tossed a stolen tripod onto the 5 Freeway near Front Street, crushing a van’s windshield and impaling the passenger.
The incident unfolded around Thursday morning when Tim Page said a yellow-and-red tripod landed onto his windshield.
The tripod pierced into his passenger’s lung, causing him broken ribs and a partially punctured lung.
In the investigation, authorities say a 32-year-old man stole the tripod from a California Department of Transportation crew and dropped it from an overpass of the Sacramento Freeway.
The unidentified suspect was arrested on a warrant but may face attempted murder charges.
Reports further noted that both van occupants were veterans.
