Thomas Browning Hospitalized, Zoe Kirkpatrick Detained in Highway 46 Accident Near Highway 41
SHANDON, CA (December 27, 2019) — A big rig driver suffered major injuries following a DUI accident along Highway 46 near Highway 41 Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 6:00 a.m.
Zoe Kirkpatrick, 29, of Echo Park was traveling westbound along the highway when she pulled her vehicle over, straddling her car on the right shoulder and the slowest lane of the highway with her lights turned off.
Subsequently, a semi-truck hauling 30,000 pounds of produce struck the left side of Kirkpatrick’s Honda before the trailer and cab rolled onto their side and blocked both westbound lanes of the highway.
Thomas Browning, 68, of Oakdale who tried to avoid the imminent crash suffered major injuries, prompting paramedics to airlift him to a hospital.
Kirkpatrick suffered minor injuries in the accident. Shortly after, officers booked her into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of DUI and set her bail to $100,000.
Per reports, her dog escaped the crash unharmed.
