Terry Bessey Arrested in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on North Court Street Near Riverside Drive
REDDING, CA (January 2, 2020)— Police arrested a hit-and-run driver who struck and injured a teen pedestrian on North Court Street near Riverside Drive on Dec. 13.
Early Monday, Redding police received a tip of the whereabouts of 49-year-old Terry Bessey. In addition, reports indicated where the vehicle was when he struck the 15-year-old.
Police located him after receiving the tip around 1 a.m. In the area of Buenaventura Boulevard and Placer Street, Bessey confessed to hitting the juvenile with his vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Furthermore, Bessey admitted to modifying and disguising his car so he would not get caught.
The arrest emanated from an incident a few weeks ago. A 15-year-old boy walking home from school along North Court Street’s sidewalk had been hit by Bessey’s blue Dodge pickup.
The teen suffered multiple injuries and underwent several surgeries. Bessey, however, fled the scene that day and is now facing multiple charges.
