15-Year-Old Suffers Injury in San Diego Scooter Crash
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 16, 2019) – A 15-year-old riding a scooter suffered an injury Sunday when a driver struck him on Villa La Jolla Drive near Via Mallorca.
Around 11:30 a.m., the teenager was riding west across Villa La Jolla Drive in a crosswalk.
According to San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros, the boy crossed on a green light when a 23-year-old man in a Honda Civic blew through the red traffic light.
The southbound vehicle struck the 15-year-old at the intersection, causing him a compound fracture to his ankle.
However, because details are limited, the circumstances are under investigation by detectives.
