Deadly Castroville Accident Leaves Man Dead and 2 Injured
CASTROVILLE, CA (March 14, 2019) – A head-on collision on Highway 1 near Highway 183 left a teen dead and two people injured Wednesday evening.
Around 6:45 p.m., a Honda Civic traveling north and driven by a 19-year-old man veered into the southbound lanes under undetermined circumstances. There, the Honda collided head-on with a Toyota Camry, driven by a 56-year-old Watsonville woman.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the teen, from Castroville, died at the scene. Per reports, his identity has yet to be released.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Camry, as well as her 17-year-old boy, suffered moderate injuries and received treatment at Natividad Medical Center.
In the wake of this devastation, CHP officers are furthering their investigation to determine the cause. Thus far, impairment does not appear to be a factor.
