Driver Dead, Passenger Hurt After Car Plows Into Tree in Fallbrook
FALLBROOK, CA (July 23, 2019) – A vehicle crashed on the 15 Freeway near Pala Mesa Drive Sunday afternoon and claimed the life of a 19-year-old man.
According to authorities, the 19-year-old Victorville man died when the sedan he was driving traveled off the freeway and plowed into a tree.
Per California Highway Patrol, the 2000 Mercury Sable veered to the right and lost control after traveling in the No. 1 lane around 12:40 p.m. Subsequently, the sedan spiraled in a clockwise direction before hitting the tree on the right shoulder.
Unfortunately, the driver died at the scene while his 23-year-old male passenger, from Victorville, suffered moderate injuries. Paramedics airlifted the survivor to Palomar Hospital.
A stretch of the northbound 15 Freeway required a temporary closure as a preliminary investigation took place.
Authorities at this time are determining the events that led to the crash.
