16-Year-Old Male Hurt in Head-On Oceano Collision With Off-Road Vehicle
OCEANO, CA (July 10, 2019) – A head-on collision at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area left a male teen injured Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, the accident occurred in the westbound lanes around 1:00 p.m. Officers also say a 16-year-old motorcyclist was involved.
Reports say he slowed down and made a U-turn, which caused his motorcycle to collide with a westbound-traveling off-road vehicle. Both riders eventually collided, causing the teen to be ejected off the motorcycle.
Per officials, the teen lost consciousness before regaining it again at the scene.
In the investigation, authorities also learned that the involved parties were partaking in a family visit from the Sacramento area.
Furthermore, drugs and alcohol are not factors in the crash and both riders had been using a helmet at the time. The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
