Elderly Woman Killed in San Jose Crash on Highway 85
SAN JOSE, CA (June 17, 2020) – Late Monday night, the police arrested Svyatoslav Solovyev after a fatal crash on Highway 85.
According to reports, a 61-year-old female Hollister resident died in a four-car pile-up on Highway 85.
Meanwhile, the CHP detained 33-year-old Svyatoslav Solovyev of Cupertino, for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
At this time, the police didn’t disclose the identity of the deceased woman.
The police believe that at around 11:36 p.m., Solovyev drove a 2020 BMW M8.
Moreover, he traveled at a high rate of speed in the No. 1 lane of southbound Highway 85, just south of Union Avenue. However, he made a turn into the No. 2 lane. Then, he crashed with a 67-year-old San Jose woman driving a 2006 Subaru.
Next, the BMW continued driving and hit a 2016 Hyundai Accent. The woman’s Hyundai then crashed with a 34-year-old Gilroy man in a 2007 Toyota Camry.
Responders transported the injured woman to Valley Medical Center by ambulance. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the other parties and the passenger in Solovyev’s car didn’t sustain any injuries.
