DUI Driver Crashes and Damages Buildings in Lakeside
LAKESIDE, CA (June 26, 2019) – A suspected DUI driver slammed into a Lakeside apartment Monday night along Mapleview Street near Ashwood Street.
Several people are left displaced without a home, according to reports. Police say a 23-year-old man rammed into a building in the 1200 block of Mapleview Street and drove away from the scene. However, police reportedly arrested the driver shortly after.
It appears the crash took down the water service of a 14-unit complex. Two apartments lost power and were deemed inhabitable.
Following the crash, the Lakeside Fire Department and San Diego Gas & Electric Crews arrived to assess the damage. Unfortunately, two families living in one of the damaged units had to find another place to stay temporarily.
All those affected should be receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
A follow-up investigation of this case is underway.
