Girl Injured in Pacific Grove Pedestrian Accident
PACIFIC GROVE, CA (November 25, 2019)—A Pacific Grove High School student suffered injuries during Friday morning’s pedestrian crash on Sunset Drive near 19th Street.
According to school district officials, the freshman girl was crossing Sunset Drive around 8 a.m. when a vehicle struck her within the marked crosswalk.
There had been no crossing guard at the time, but the crosswalk lights up, implicating when a pedestrian is crossing and signaling to drivers to slow down.
The incident drew six police officers, two ambulances and Fire professionals to the scene.
At this time, the teen’s condition is not known. As far as the driver, he or she remained at the scene and cooperated with police questioning.
It’s important to know that many people use crosswalks to navigate the streets. Whenever you’re behind the wheel, remember these tips to minimize the dangers of pedestrian accidents: slow down in areas high of pedestrian activity, be patient with elders and pedestrians with disabilities, look for eye contact and never drive while under the influence.
