Selvin Joel Citalan Ixcot Dies, Steven Bishop Injured in Car Accident on Highway 121

Sonoma County, CA (December 26, 2020) – On Thursday morning, 52-year-old Steven Bishop of Santa Rosa was involved in a fatal vehicle crash on Highway 121.

The accident happened at about 9 a.m. near Wagner Road and Schellville.

A 2009 Mazda driver attempted to pass another car in the southbound lane with double yellow lines.

Unfortunately, the Mazda crashed with a Ford pickup driven by Bishop who was driving north.

The Mazda driver, identified as 18-year-old Selvin Joel Citalan Ixcot of San Rafael, died at the scene.

Afterwards, responders took Bishop to Queen of the Valley Hospital by a unit with Sonoma Fire.

Authorities said both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Also, officers do not believe alcohol and drugs were a factor in the incident.

Meanwhile, the authorities closed Highway 121 in both directions. They reopened the northbound lane at around 11 a.m., and all lanes were reopened by 11:40 a.m.
