SHASTA COUNTY, CA (October 8, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, a startling vehicle crash on Highway 299 and Iron Mountain Road injured one person.

The incident happened at around 12:45 p.m. on Highway 299 and Iron Mountain Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a pick-up truck struck an eastbound bicyclist who was turning left onto Iron Mountain Road.

Moreover, responders transported the bicyclist to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries.

Furthermore, the crash blocked one lane in each direction on Highway 299 but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
