Injuries Reported in Richmond Auto Accident on Interstate 80 and Potrero Avenue

RICHMOND, CA (June 21, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, a startling big rig crash on Interstate 80 and Potrero Avenue sent 1 person to the hospital.

The incident happened at 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 80 at Westbound Potrero Avenue offramp.

According to reports, the crash involved a truck carrying a load of sugar and a big rig hauling carnival equipment. As the two vehicles were fused on Interstate 80, all lanes were blocked.

Meanwhile, CHP said that the driver of the sugar truck rear-ended a big rig carrying carnival equipment.

Then, responders airlifted the carnival truck driver to the hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the sugar truck driver sustained no serious injuries.

The authorities requested two heavy wreckers to pry the trucks apart. Also, the crash left piles of sugar on the highway.

Moreover, fire departments from Richmond and Contra Costa County also responded to the scene.
