Three-Vehicle Collision on US 50 in South Lake Tahoe Kills Teenager
South Lake Tahoe, CA (July 25, 2021) – A speeding teenager died after causing a three-vehicle collision on US 50 on Thursday afternoon.
On July 22, an identified woman driving a Saturn was speeding on US 50 when she lost control of her vehicle. As a result, she collided head-on with an oncoming Chevrolet.
The impact of the collision threw the woman away and split her vehicle into two pieces before hitting a third vehicle. Police identified that the third car was a Toyota.
The teenage woman died at the scene. However, authorities have not released her identification as of the moment.
Meanwhile, first responders transported the Chevrolet driver and four of his passengers to a nearby hospital with major injuries. Authorities confirmed that three of the passengers were also teenagers.
Furthermore, the Chevrolet caught fire after the collision. Witnesses and concerned citizens helped in putting out the fire.
Moreover, the family of the Toyota driver brought him to the hospital for treatment. However, the severity of his injuries was unknown.
Both lanes were closed on US-50 for two and a half hours for preliminary duties and investigation. Police believed that alcohol was a factor in the collision.
