Sladen Mohl Dies in DUI Pedestrian Crash at Hawthorne and Sepulveda Boulevards
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 22, 2019) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a DUI teen driver Thursday at Hawthorne and Sepulveda boulevards.
According to Los Angeles media reports, Sladen John Mohl died after he’d been hit by a 16-year-old suspected of driving under the influence around 8:40 p.m.
The Torrance Police Department determined that the man was hit by a 2015 Toyota Highlander.
It appears the Toyota struck the college student from Girdwood as he stood on a pedestrian island. The 16-year-old girl heading south on Hawthorne Boulevard subsequently hit two other cars.
Following the accident, Torrance Fire Department paramedics treated Mohl at the scene but unfortunately, the 19-year-old died from severe injuries.
Now, family, friends and colleagues are mourning and remembering Mohl. Reports say the El Camino College baseball team recruited him from Alaska.
As far as the driver, officers arrested her on suspicion of DUI. No other drivers or pedestrians were hurt in the crash.
