Sierra Knutson Dead, MaryAnn Knutson Paralyzed, Whitney Knutson and Trinity Knutson Injured in Solo-Car Accident on Whitmore Road Near Old 44 Drive
MILLVILLE, CA (July 30, 2019) –Sunday’s rollover crash on Whitmore Road near Old 44 Drive has devastated a family after a 9-year-old girl perished and her mother sustained paralyzing injuries.
The accident befell Sunday around 10 a.m. According to reports, California Highway Patrol and emergency personnel responded after witnesses contacted 911.
When authorities arrived, they found a Ford Excursion that plowed through a fence and overturned multiple times.
Authorities scoured the scene to find three surviving victims, whom paramedics rushed to area hospitals with injuries described as minor to major.
According to CHP, the Ford driven by 38-year-old MaryAnn Knutson was traveling west on Millville Road at 70 mph. After passing up a slower-moving car, Knutson veered back into her lane before losing control of the SUV.
As a result, her vehicle traveled off the road and plowed through a fence before rolling over several times. Due to the severity of the crash, MaryAnn suffered serious injuries and may be paralyzed from the neck down.
Her two other daughters ages three and six—Whitney Knutson and Trinity Knutson—also suffered injuries.
Unfortunately, Sierra Knutson, 9, died at the scene as a result of the impact.
Neither drugs nor alcohol was said to play a role in the deadly crash, per CHP; however, an ongoing investigation continues.
In the meantime, a GoFundMe page has been created by the family to help garner help for memorial and hospital costs.
