Shelby Alvarez Arrested in Tragic DUI Crash on Highway 99 [Chico, CA]

Chico, CA (December 18, 2023) On Saturday evening, 26-year-old Shelby Alvarez of Chico was arrested after a 2-vehicle collision on Highway 99 that led to the death of a driver.

According to CHP Chico, the deadly 2-vehicle collision happened on Highway 99, just north of Highway 32, at about 11 p.m.

Reports say that Alvarez was driving southbound on northbound Highway 99 and collided with a Corvette in the same lane.

The impact of the collision sent the Corvette driver partially ejected off the car and suffered fatal injuries.

Officials says that Alvarez was determined to be intoxicated, authorities arrested the Chico woman and booked into the Butte County Jail on the multiple charges.

Authorities are investigating the deadly collision and have not released further information at this time.
