Multi-Car Accident Reported in Corona
CORONA, CA (April 1, 2019) – A multi-vehicle collision on the 91 West Freeway near South Maple Street sent several people to nearby hospitals Friday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officials responded to the first call around 9:30 a.m. Along the westbound freeway, a Toyota 4Runner driver tried slowing down to stopped traffic ahead after driving erratically. However, although the driver had attempted to stop, the SUV rear-ended a vehicle, which shoved that car into a semi-truck trailer. Subsequently, other vehicles grew tangled in the pandemonium under unknown circumstances.
As a result of the crash, the Toyota 4Runner driver suffered major injuries. Several others suffered minor injuries, as well.
The CHP officers issued a Sig Alert at 9:45 a.m. with only the slow lane open to commuters. By 11:25 a.m., all westbound lanes reopened.
Car accidents happen when we fail to take driving seriously. There are many factors that contribute to road collisions including distracted driving, speeding and drunk driving.
