Pedestrian Struck by Alleged Impaired Driver near South Spokane Street in Seattle
SEATTLE, WA (February 25, 2019) – An 86-year-old woman was seriously injured Tuesday morning, when she was struck in a DUI pedestrian accident on 15th Avenue South.
Authorities began receiving dispatch calls in the Beacon Hill neighborhood around 9:00 a.m. Witnesses described the pedestrian as an 86-year-old female walking south on 15 Avenue. As she crossed onto the northbound lanes, she was struck by a 48-year-old southbound driver.
According to reports, the vehicle was identified as a Ford Fusion driven by a 48-year-old man. First responders found his truck stopped on a nearby sidewalk, where he allegedly hit the pedestrian.
The victim was consequently brought to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Moreover, neither the driver nor his passenger were injured in accident.
Following preliminary investigation, officials drew a blood sample from the driver and determined he was impaired at the time of the collision. He was also booked into King County Jail on a vehicular assault charge.
