Scott Cotton Unharmed in Injury-Collision When Car Plows Into Home on Riverview Drive Near Briarcliff Drive

VICTORVILLE, CA (February 12, 2019) – A driver and a firefighter were injured, and a family was displaced after a vehicle plowed into a home that subsequently caught on fire on Riverview Drive near Briarcliff Drive Sunday.

Witnesses reported a crash in the 13300 block of Riverview Drive just after 10 a.m. After receiving reports, seven fire engines, two truck companies, four chief officers and an investigator were dispatched to the scene to find a home nearly being swallowed by the blaze.

Fire crews contained the inferno within half an hour, yet one firefighter was injured during the intense wrangle and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

According to news reports, Scott Cotton was inside the home when the car struck an unknown number of vehicles before crashing into his garage. Cotton bolted outside and saw the driver of the car trapped inside, immediately prompting him to assist.

According to Cotton, he was unable to open the door when a small explosion knocked him down to the ground. The driver, somehow, was able to escape the car with a bloody face and burns to his arms. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

There were no other homes damaged in the fire or crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by authorities. A GoFundMe page was created to help the family who lost their home.
