Santiago Cabezas Dies in DUI Collision With Big Rig on Highway 14 Near Sierra Highway
SANTA CLARITA, CA (January 24, 2020) — A Santa Ana teen died Thursday in a suspected DUI crash with a semi-truck along Highway 14 near Sierra Highway.
California Highway Patrol officers received word of the crash around 1:04 a.m.
According to Josh Greengard with the CHP Newhall office, a white Honda Civic, heading southbound on Highway 14 at a high rate of speed, struck a red Volvo semi-truck on the right shoulder.
It appears that the white Honda Civic plowed into the rear of the truck, killing the driver. Police identified Santa Ana resident, 19-year-old Santiago Cabezas.
So far, the details remain unclear, but authorities believe excessive speed and impairment might have played a role in the crash.
