2 Die in DUI Collision in Santa Maria
SANTA MARIA, CA (February 7, 2019) – Two people were killed after an alleged DUI driver operating a semi-truck crashed into several vehicles on Highway 135 near West Union Valley Parkway.
The 6 a.m. crash happened on the southbound side of the highway. Reports say the driver of a big rig truck failed to stop in time and crashed into several cars that were stopped at the red light.
A total of six vehicles were involved in the wreck at two people who were occupants of the same vehicle died in the crash. Several other people walked away with only minor injuries.
The driver of the big rig was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to California Highway Patrol.
A follow-up investigation of this deadly crash is underway.
